Awards Awards
The Awards will be recognized and bestowed during the IEEE Plasma Sciences Awards Banquet at ICOPS 2017 on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 7:00 PM in Wildwood 3 at the Harrah's Resort Atlantic City Waterfront Conference Center.
Please note that Awards Banquet participation is available by ticket purchase of $50 for conference attendees or $80 for additional companions. Tickets may be purchased through the Conference registration portal or at the Wildwood Registration Desk located on the first floor of the Waterfront Conference Center at the Harrah's Resort Atlantic City.

2017 Plasma Science and Applications Award
The 2017 Plasma Science and Applications Award will be presented to Professor Alan Phelps of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom. Professor Phelps will be recognized at ICOPS 2017 for groundbreaking and influential contributions to the field of plasma science, including: diagnostics, waves, plasma-surface interactions, beam instabilities, ionospheric plasmas, magnetospheric science and novel microwave radiation sources.
2017 IEEE Marie Sklodowska-Curie Award
2016 IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Merit Award
The 2016 IEEE Nuclear Plasma Sciences Society Merit Award will be presented to Dr. Meyya Meyyappan of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Ames Research Center, California, United States of America. Dr. Meyyappan will be recognized at ICOPS 2017 for contributions to modeling, simulation, and development of low temperature process plasmas in microelectronics and plasma applications in nanotechnology.
2017 IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society Merit Award
The 2017 IEEE Nuclear Plasma Sciences Society Merit Award will be presented to Professor Ravindra Joshi of Texas Tech University, United States of America. Professor Joshi will be recognized at ICOPS 2017 for significant and sustained contributions to bioelectrics and physics-based understanding of high field phenomena in pulsed power applications.
2017 Igor Alexeff Outstanding Student in Plasma Science Award
The 2017 Igor Alexeff Outstanding Student in Plasma Science Award will be presented to David Yager-Elorriaga of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States of America. Mr. Yager-Elorriaga will be recognized at ICOPS 2017 for innovative research contributions to the plasma science of excitation and stabilization of instabilities in pulsed-power driven foil plasma implosions.
2017 IEEE Graduate Scholarship Award
The 2017 IEEE Graduate Scholarship Award will be presented to Amanda M. Loveless of Purdue University, United States of America and Sabahattin Yurt of the University of New Mexico, United States of America. Ms. Loveless and Mr. Yurt will be both recognized at ICOPS 2017 for their research contributions to the fields of Nuclear and Plasma Sciences.

Paul Phelps Continuing Education Grant
In order to promote continuing education, the Paul Phelps Continuing Education Grant is awarded to support participation in ICOPS 2017's Mini-course on "Charged Particle Beams and High Powered Pulsed Sources" and to further encourage membership in NPSS. The grant award will be for $500 which includes the mini-course registration fee and support for hotel accommodations.

NPSS Student Paper Awards
The NPSS Student Paper Award seeks to recognize outstanding student poster or oral papers submitted to the 44th International Conference on Plasma Science (ICOPS 2017). The purpose of these awards are to encourage both outstanding student contributions and greater student participation as principal or sole authors of papers as well as to acknowledge the importance of student contributions to the fields embraced by the NPSS. The two best papers (two awards) will receive cash awards of $500 each and a Certificate. The two runners-up will receive a certificate only.
The Oral Presentations to evaluate the research work of the NPSS Student Paper Awards nominees will be on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the meeting room - Wildwood 6 at the Harrah's Resort AC Convention Center.
The NPSS Student Paper Awards recipients will be announced during the ICOPS 2017's Conference Dinner on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Wildwood 3.
