Junior Checklist
Your Pirate Adventure Continues – The Third Voyage! As a rising junior at Seton Hall University, you are halfway through. Believe it or not, now is the time to start planning your exit strategy! Junior year in college is filled with many decisions and action items. We wanted to get you thinking about a few things. Below is a checklist you can use to guide you through what we hope is a splendid third year in your journey that we called your Pirate Adventure!
Checklist for Juniors
Have you declared your major? If not, you have to take care of business right away. Make an appointment with a faculty adviser in your intended major or stop by the Academic Success Center in Mooney Hall 14 for a planning meeting.
Have you sketched out an academic plan for the last four semesters? If not, make an appointment with your academic adviser or stop by the Academic Success Center in Mooney Hall for an appointment.
Are you going to study abroad? Go to the Office of International Programs (International Center, Jubilee Hall, Rooms 231-234) for planning and assistance.
Do you need an internship? We know that students who prepare for their careers through internship experiences are more likely to be employed after graduation. Make an appointment at the Career Center (second floor of Bayley Hall) to explore your options.
Plan to start networking. It’s not who you know, it’s whom you know. Promise yourself you will make at least one solid networking connection every semester. Your faculty adviser and the Career Center are two good places to start.
Learn to navigate your Degree Audit (you can access it through Banner Self-Service). The Degree Audit will show you what course requirements you have taken, your proficiencies, and the credits you still need to finish. It is an important tool for success. Print it out and get familiar with it. If you have questions about credits, make an appointment now with your Faculty Academic Adviser. Your adviser gets really busy during pre-registration time so early in the Fall semester is better to meet about questions.
Wishing you a wonderful junior year.
Go Pirates!
