Campus Clear, Caring for Ourselves and Our Community - Seton Hall University
Thursday, October 8, 2020
The national events and news of this past week are a stark reminder that COVID-19 remains with us. We must remain ever vigilant and continue to do the things that protect our own health and that of everyone around us. Our sincere thanks go to all of you for your caring and thoughtful adherence to the Seton Hall Pledge . Mask-wearing, hand-washing, and social distancing are proven practices that mitigate the spread of the virus. Thank you for taking the Pledge seriously.
Campus Clear App
Another important tool is the #CampusClear app . The app provides a useful daily reminder to assess our health before interacting with others. All students, faculty, staff, and administrators should use the app daily, whether you will be on campus that day or not.
We continue to closely monitor local, state, and national health trends and statistics. New Jersey's COVID-19 statistics continue to trend upward. Some of this was expected with the arrival of colder weather and increased indoor activity. The University dashboard continues to be updated.
Caring for Ourselves
Health Services continues to conduct a wide range of COVID-19 testing and successfully launched its increased surveillance testing last week.
The free flu shot clinics continue for one more week. Over 400 vaccinations have been administered. Students who missed the clinics may still get a flu shot by contacting contact Health Services at (973) 761-9175 to set an appointment. Employees and students are reminded that most pharmacies also provide flu shots.
Your health and safety is vitally important. Please remember to take care of yourself. Students should continue to use our Student Services departments, including the Academic Resource Center, Health Services , and Counseling and Psychological Services . Employees should consult the Human Resources web site and related support services.
Caring for Our Community
We continue to meet regularly with South Orange Village health officials to exchange information, share ideas, and identify opportunities for further cooperation. Please note that the Maplewood Township Committee passed a resolution on Tuesday, October 6, requiring masks be worn in Maplewood Village at all times; they may expand this to parks in town.
The State of New Jersey announced the launch of COVID Alert NJ, an exposure notification app. The State asks that students, faculty, staff, and administrators download and use COVID Alert NJ, which is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store . You may visit https://covid19.nj.gov/pages/app or contact [email protected] to learn more. This app does not replace #CampusClear but is a separate tool administered by the State of New Jersey.
COVID-19 Testing Locations
Essex County is offering a regular county-wide testing service for residents. The service is available to resident students who show their Seton Hall photo ID. More information may be found at: https://essexcovid.org/
Union County residents can now walk to a free COVID-19 test site, provided by the Union County COVID-19 Mobile Test Unit. https://ucnj.org/covid19/testing/walk-up-locations/
The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders is offering FREE COVID-19 testing for residents throughout the County. Please visit the Passaic County website .
Local government officials created www.southorangecovid19.com as an additional resource you may wish to consult.
Your health and safety remains paramount in Seton Hall's planning and actions. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please contact the HICT here .
