Better Days Ahead, Vaccination Information and Keeping Healthy - Seton Hall University

As mentioned in last week's DEI message, our community stands with the Asian community to condemn the increased xenophobia and bigotry resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning and bullying against Asians, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders will not be tolerated at Seton Hall. To learn more about how to get involved, email [email protected].

Over three million New Jerseyans have received at least one COVID vaccine dose. The State is reporting that over one million residents are fully vaccinated. The Moderna vaccine is now being tested on children aged 6 months to 11 years.

COVID statistics, after a period of significant improvement, have leveled off at numbers better than January; however, the rate of increased improvement has slowed significantly.

Governor Murphy has called for K-12 schools to reopen now, citing significant financial aid on the way through the American Rescue Plan.

Better days are ahead. But they are not here yet. Please continue to do your part. Do not let your guard down. Do not fall victim to pandemic fatigue. Follow the Seton Hall Pledge.

Vaccination information

We encourage you to get vaccinated - for yourselves and all those around you.

Click here to learn when you will be eligible for the vaccine. Please carefully check the guidelines; you may be eligible earlier than you realize.

In addition to the state’s vaccination web site, you can find valuable vaccination information through each of the state’s county web sites. Note that the state site is a pre-registration, designed to help you know when you are eligible. It does not register you to receive the vaccination.

Here is a list of the vaccination sites throughout the state.

Another site provides information to Find COVID-19 Vaccines Near You. This site provides nationwide information.

Essex County has received high marks for its vaccination process. You can learn more at the Essex County COVID site.

The State Department of Health provides a full array of vaccine and vaccination-related information, some of it in multiple languages. Please check it out and share it with those you know who have concerns about being vaccinated.

Each year the University provides a flu vaccine clinic. Some of you have asked whether we plan to do the same for COVID. Please know that we have reached out to government and corporate partners to express our interest in providing you a COVID vaccine clinic. While the current level of available vaccines means that is not yet possible, we will do all we can to provide this service when circumstances permit.

Keeping Ourselves and Each Other Healthy

Remember to use #CampusClear every day, whether coming to campus or not.

Students: remember that Health Services offers a wide array of testing and other health and safety services. They are here to help you. In addition to the existing surveillance testing, students may request to be tested as frequently as once per week.

Your health and safety remain paramount in Seton Hall’s planning and actions. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please contact the HICT here.

Sincerely,

Shawna Cooper-Gibson, Ed.D.
