Senior Checklist
Congratulations! Your Pirate Adventure is beginning its final journey! As a SENIOR, you need to begin preparing for the home stretch!
As the Fall semester begins, it is essential that you review your degree audit with your faculty academic adviser to make sure you are on target to graduate in your major. Don’t wait until your last semester to sort out challenges. Some classes only run in the fall semester, so it is crucial that you and your adviser discuss your degree audit now (viewable in Banner Self-Service) to see what areas are “Not Met.”
And this is our first reminder that in the Fall, you will need to “apply” for graduation. (This is an online application that you will need submit to the Registrar. Log on to PirateNet, click on the Academic Tab and then click on Apply to Graduate in the Student Records column).
Here’s our Senior Level (90+ Credits) checklist, designed to guide you toward Graduation:
Schedule a meeting with your Faculty Academic Adviser.
Review your degree audit (viewable in Banner self-service) and print a copy before you meet with your Faculty Academic Adviser.
Review your account in PirateNet to check for any holds that may prevent you from registering for courses and/or receiving your diploma.
Discuss with your Faculty Academic Adviser any areas of your degree audit that say “Not Met.” If a portion of your degree audit is still under construction, work with your adviser and your undergraduate catalogue to confirm you have met all department requirements.
Plan your last two semesters with your Faculty Academic Adviser.
If you are considering graduate school/professional school upon degree completion, meet with your faculty academic advisor to discuss schools/programs, review application requirements and deadlines, and register for any required standardized tests.
Double check that your earned credits, your credits in progress and your anticipated senior year credits total the number required to graduate in your major.
Check that you have the required GPA for your major (and minor if you have one).
Check that you have the correct number of proficiencies to complete the University Core.
File an Application for Degree early in the Fall Semester. The web lists a deadline of December 10 for May commencement, but if you submit it early, you will be able to make any necessary adjustments before the Spring semester begins.
Make an appointment at The Career Center to perfect your resume and start planning for your life after Seton Hall.
Congratulations, and good luck in the upcoming academic year.
