The Lewinson Center for the Study of Labor, Inequality, and Social Justice cultivates scholarship, pedagogy, and public outreach in accordance with the legacy of our namesake, the civil rights pioneer Edwin R. Lewinson.

With an eye on the issues of our current day as well as our diverse histories, the Lewinson Center fosters conversation about labor, inequality and injustice of many forms, including—but not limited to—class, race, labor, gender, sexuality, age, religion, nationality, disability and ideology.

We do so through public events with world-class activists and intellectuals, as well as more sustained commitments such as scholarships, grants, and educational programs. Such a focus harmonizes with Seton Hall's Catholic Mission as well as Lewinson’s exemplary life of lending visibility and dignity to those often overlooked.
