Jeff Morrow, Ph.D.

Inside the Core this week, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28th, we are very pleased to welcome Jeff Morrow, Ph.D., faculty member in Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, back to the Scholars’ Forum in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, for the third time to discuss his most recent book, A Catholic Guide to the Old Testament, co-authored with Jeff Cavins, Biff Rocha, and Andrew Swafford (Ascension Press, 2024). This book will be a wonderful resource for anyone interested in the Bible, and Professor Morrow is a wonderful speaker and teacher on this subject.

Professor Morrow’s book is part of The Great Adventure Bible Series, Your Journey Through the Bible, started by Jeff Cavins, and popular in many churches, and using the color coding popularized in the podcast The Bible in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz) featuring Jeff Cavins, as noted on the Ascension Press website. Also on the website, Matthew Ramage, Ph.D., author, biblical scholar and professor of theology at Benedictine College, says, "This introduction to the Old Testament achieves the rare feat of being deeply informative yet eminently readable. Catholics previously intimidated or confused by the Bible will find that it makes God’s Word readily accessible for the first time, and it makes the ideal companion to The Great Adventure Catholic Bible." Click here for more information on Professor Morrow’s book.

Closer to home, our own Assistant Director of the Core, Maribel Landrau, who received her master’s in theology at ICSST, remembers Professor Morrow himself in personal terms: "I had Professor Morrow for at least five classes as an undergraduate and graduate student in the School of Theology. He is a strong family man of faith and a scholar who teaches from the heart. I remember two things that make me smile all the time while preparing for my own classes. He brought a crucifix to class that he would put on his desk and a pocket Bible that he would carry in his jacket. God bless him!" Professor Morrow is loved by many, and his talk, we are sure, will be inspiring and interesting.

This first Scholars’ Forum in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition for the spring semester of 2024 will be at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28 via Teams. Click here to join us on Teams. Looking forward to seeing you all!
