Seton Hall Launches “Ready to Care” Training to Support Students in Distress
Thursday, August 28, 2025
At Seton Hall, student well-being is a shared responsibility. To help faculty and
staff recognize, respond to and refer students who may be struggling, the University
has launched a new online module called Ready to Care.
This brief, 20-minute training is designed to provide practical tools for identifying signs of distress, responding with empathy and connecting students to the appropriate campus resources. Whether you’re teaching in the classroom, advising students, or working in a support role, you may be among the first to notice when a student needs help. Ready to Care equips you with strategies to make a meaningful difference.
Upon completion of the module, participants will receive a Ready to Care sticker or magnet to display in their office or workspace. These symbols let students know that you are a supportive and approachable resource, and that you are prepared to connect them with the help they need.
Ready to Care is the result of a joint effort by Counseling and Psychological Services,
the Dean of Students Office and the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center. Please
reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
We encourage all faculty and staff to take part in this initiative. Not only will you gain valuable skills for your role, but you will also help create a campus culture where students feel seen, supported and safe to reach out for assistance.
Together, we can ensure that no student struggles alone. Take 20 minutes to complete Ready to Care today and show our community that you are ready to care.
