Heart of the University, Fourth Faculty Retreat Series 2020-2021
Tuesday, February 16, 2021
The Heart of the University Retreat Series gives faculty and administrators of all faiths the opportunity for input and guided reflection. The series is co-sponsored by the Office of Mission and Ministry, and the Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership.
The fourth retreat, given by Dr. Doreen Stiskal on the theme of Transformation and Education: Navigating the New Academic Landscape, will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, from 9 to 11 a.m. via Microsoft Teams.
Education is the most enabling force in the world, allowing learners to expand horizons of being. Transformative experiences enable development cognitively, socially, and spiritually. Yet academic life, as we know, keeps changing rapidly. How do we as a Catholic university transcend the changing views on education? How does our work thrive as we seek to educate a new generation differently than before? At this retreat we will reflect on the shifting academic landscape as we seek to enlighten, connect and empower students and ourselves.
Doreen M. Stiskal, PT, PhD is an Associate Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Physical Therapy. Dr. Stiskal is a GEM Teaching Fellow and Peer Leader in the Praxis Program.
