Honoring Achievement and Community During Graduate Student Appreciation Week

Seton Hall University will celebrate its graduate student community during Graduate Student Appreciation Week, taking place April 13-17, 2026, with a series of events designed to recognize the achievements and impact of graduate students across the University.

Hosted by the Office of Graduate Affairs, in collaboration with campus partners, the weeklong celebration offers opportunities for graduate students to connect with peers, engage campus resources and take time to recharge through social, professional and wellness-focused programming. The annual celebration aligns with National Graduate Student Appreciation Week, a nationwide initiative recognizing the vital role graduate students play in advancing research, scholarship and campus life.

“Our graduate students bring energy, expertise and perspective to every corner of the University,” said Christopher Cuccia, Ed.D., associate provost for Academic and Graduate Affairs. “Through these events, we aim to foster community while ensuring students feel recognized, supported and valued throughout their academic journey.”

A Week of Connection and Recognition
The celebration begins Monday, April 13, with welcome tables at both the South Orange and Interprofessional Health Sciences (IHS) campuses, where students can learn about the week’s activities and receive giveaways. Graduate students at the IHS campus can take advantage of complimentary professional headshots to support career development and networking, whereas students on the South Orange campus can gain knowledgeable experience through an interactive Interview Skills program.

Activity fairs on Tuesday and Thursday will bring together campus offices including the Career Center, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), DOVE, Disability Support Services, Office of International Programs, University Libraries and the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center, offering graduate students opportunities to explore resources while enjoying refreshments, mini-massages and networking opportunities.

Midweek programming highlights community building through a Graduate Student Dinner Reception followed by a Dessert Social, encouraging students from across disciplines and campuses to connect with one another and engage with university leaders and academic representatives. Registration required — graduate students are encouraged to attend both the Dinner Reception and Dessert Social.

The week concludes Friday at the IHS campus with an “Ease-Your-Mind” event featuring chair massages and a pizza gathering designed to help students unwind and celebrate the close of the academic year together.

In keeping with Seton Hall’s mission of servant leadership, Graduate Student Appreciation Week will also include the “Our Grads Care” food donation drive. Collection boxes will be available at events throughout the week, with donations supporting local food banks through a partnership with the Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE).

Graduate Student Appreciation Week continues to grow each year, reflecting Seton Hall’s commitment to supporting graduate and professional students academically, professionally and personally. The events provide an opportunity for students, especially those who may not regularly be on campus, to reconnect with the University community and celebrate their shared experiences.

Graduate students are encouraged to attend as many events as their schedules allow. Some activities require registration, while others are open on a first-come, first-served basis. Learn more about Graduate Student Appreciation Week and view the full schedule of events on the Graduate Affairs website.
