Newark Ends Mask Mandate; University Mask Guidelines - Seton Hall University
Thursday, March 3, 2022
As announced in last week's update, the University's indoor mask mandate ended effective March 1.
Newark mayor Ras Baraka ended the City’s indoor mask mandate. Effective today, March 3, 2022, the School of Law may now operate under the University's mask guidelines:
- Anyone wishing to wear a mask is welcome to do so.
- Faculty may require masks be worn in their classes, clinicals, and labs, and students must comply.
- University community members are welcome to request others to wear a mask when meeting. We ask everyone to be considerate of such requests.
- KN95 and surgical masks will be available at various locations, including Walsh Library (circulation desk- 2nd floor); Schwartz Hall (2nd floor – student welcome desk); Bethany Hall (1st floor- student welcome desk); Mooney Hall (Center for Academic Success- student desk); the security desk at the Law School entrance; the IHS campus security desk; and at the Student Services IHS campus desk (1st Floor, Room 1517).
- Building signage will be updated to reflect "Masking Welcome." Please be patient as the existing signage is replaced.
- Everyone should always carry a mask with them for those situations where one is desired or needed.
Separately, and in accordance with Hackensack Meridian Health policy, masking remains required at the Interprofessional Health Sciences campus.
Case counts throughout New Jersey and across our campuses remain very low.
Thank you to everyone who uploaded their vaccination cards. With over 90% compliance, this further confirms our status as a highly vaccinated university, as we originally determined through the Confidential Vaccine Declaration.
Today's update concludes our regular weekly messages. Going forward, we will continue to provide you updates as determined by HICT actions or campus/public health situations.
By no means is our experience with COVID-19 over. We have seen, time and again, the many "twists and turns" we said it would throw at us. We know that more changes may come, so we continue to monitor public and university health statistics, along with government guidance.
Your health and safety remain paramount in Seton Hall's planning and actions. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions, please contact the HICT here.
Sincerely,
