Academic Resource Center Earns National Certification for Excellence
Wednesday, October 22, 2025
Seton Hall University’s Academic Resource Center (ARC), led by Director Nicole Paternoster and supported by Program Coordinator Ted McCulloch,
has been awarded the International College Learning Center Association (ICLCA) Learning Center Certification for the 2025–2028 cycle, recognizing the Center’s
commitment to academic support and student success. Seton Hall University is now one
of only 10 centers to be awarded this designation.
The certification acknowledges learning centers that demonstrate high standards of performance and impact in areas such as programs and services; organizational framework; academic integrity and learning environment; funding and resources; staff development; promotion and public relations; and assessment and evaluation.
“It’s been an amazing year for the Academic Resource Center,” Paternoster noted. “We’re thrilled to have earned our Learning Center Certification from the International College Learning Center Association (ICLCA) and are now awaiting Level 3 certification from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).”
The application process involved a detailed self-study in which the ARC evaluated its operations across the key standards, after which, they submitted an e-portfolio containing an executive summary of the Center, narrative responses to each of the standards and extensive supporting materials such as policies, organizational charts, training guides and assessment reports.
Paternoster added,
Along with celebrating one of our peer tutors being named CRLA’s International Tutor of the Year, these milestones reflect the incredible dedication and passion of our entire staff. I’m so proud and grateful for everything they do to support student success at Seton Hall.
The ICLCA Learning Center Certification serves as a benchmark of quality for academic support programs across the country, affirming that Seton Hall’s Academic Resource Center meets and exceeds national standards in learning assistance, tutoring and academic enrichment.
“This recognition reflects the University’s deep commitment to supporting student success through innovative and high-quality academic resources,” said Monica Burnette, Ph.D., vice president of Student Services. “The Academic Resource Center continues to set the standard for excellence, and I’m incredibly proud of the team for their dedication to helping our students thrive.”
Through its comprehensive programs and dedicated staff, the ARC continues to play a vital role in advancing Seton Hall’s mission to provide students with the tools and guidance needed to achieve their fullest academic potential.
