SGA Wins:

2024-25

  • SGA developed a sustainable strategic plan focused on improving the student experience by creating an inclusive, tight-knit community – on and off campus – via advocacy, representation, culture building and event planning.
  • Village Relations Committee hosted several events with South Orange partners, including Beyond the Gates, Yoga and Boba (Chipoba & Three Birds Yoga Studio), Mental Health Panel (Family Connections), Motivational Quotes (South Orange Middle School).
  • SGA partnered with Public Safety & Security to launch the rebrand the SHU Shuttle and SHU Ride.
  • SGA centralized information relating to financial procedures and developed additional training for registered student organizations.
  • SGA partnered with Student Services and Gourmet Dining Services to propose a new franchise for the University Center (coming Fall 2026).

2023-24

  • Hosted Opioid Prevention Training (OPT) with Dean of Students Office (NARCAN training) in Fall 2023.
  • Changed Senate constituencies from schools and colleges to include both schools/colleges and class years. Senators will not only have school/college representatives but there will also be representatives for each of the undergraduate class years.
  • Hosted 1st annual "Clubsgiving" event to celebrate the work our clubs and organizations do on campus.
  • Instituted Senate Leadership evaluations to help develop leadership skills.
  • Completed audit of all clubs and organizations to increase SGA engagement and assistance.

2022-23

  • Created a Mental Health Taskforce with SGA, Counseling & Psychological Services, and the Dean of Students Office representatives.
  • Developed a Title IX Taskforce and provided a list of recommendations to the Dean of Students Office and the Office of Chief Equity and Compliance Officer based on benchmarking and student feedback.
  • Updated the SGA Bylaws to add the Gender Equity Commission.
  • Collaborated with the Disability Support Services Office to host informational sessions.

2021-22

  • Implemented the Engage platform for SGA recognized clubs/organizations, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and the broader campus community.
  • Brought free menstrual products to campus bathrooms for accessible use.

2018-19

  • Updated the SGA Bylaws to add the Environmental Protection & Conservation Commission.

2017-18

  • Implemented the 24-Hour study space adjacent to the Walsh Library.
  • Formed the SGA Presidential Cabinet consisting of non-SGA representatives.
