Frequently Asked Questions for Pre-Law Professions

When should I start meeting with a P-PAC advisor?

We recommend connecting as early as your first year so you can plan and make the most of relevant academic and extracurricular opportunities.

Can I major in pre-law?

Pre-law is not a designated major at Seton Hall University. Instead, it is a self-identified professional goal. You may choose any major that aligns with your academic interests and strengths. We encourage students to select courses that challenge their critical thinking, writing, and research skills. Most importantly, pursue subjects that genuinely interest you - because GPA matters for law school admissions.

What is a 3 + 3 Law Program?

Law school traditionally takes three years to complete. Through the 3+3 Law Program, the first year of law school counts as your senior year of undergraduate study, allowing students to complete both degrees in six years - saving both time and a year of college tuition. To learn more about these programs, visit:
SHU 3+3 Law Programs Note: Students must meet the GPA and LSAT requirements to transition into Seton Hall Law School

I am a 3 + 3 student, can I still meet with a meet with a P-PAC Advisor?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it. Students accepted into the 3+3 Program are provided with advising from both Seton Hall Law School and P-PAC. Whether you are in the 3+3 program or pursuing a traditional pathway, P-PAC is here to guide you through your pre-law journey as you explore, prepare, and apply to law school.

Do I need to decide on law school as a first-year Seton Hall student?

Not at all! Some students come to Seton Hall knowing they want to pursue law, while others discover their interest later. P-PAC is here to support you at any point in your academic journey, whether you are exploring law as a career option or actively applying to law school.
