College of Nursing Hosts Dean’s Speaker Series

Kathleen Zavotsky, Ph.D. '15, RN, FAEN, will headline the College of Nursing's Dean's Speaker Series on February 5.

Seton Hall's College of Nursing will host Kathleen Evanovich Zavotsky, Ph.D. ’15, RN, CCRN, CEN, ACNS-BC, FAEN, FCNS, system senior director of nursing research and program evaluation at NYU Langone Health, for its upcoming Dean’s Speaker Series on Thursday, February 5, from 5–7 p.m. at the Interprofessional Health Sciences (IHS) campus in Nutley.

Zavotsky, an alumna of Seton Hall’s Ph.D. in Nursing program, will present a keynote titled “Exploring the Current State of Nursing Science for the Future.” Her address will examine how nursing science continues to evolve and what that transformation means for clinical practice, education and health care delivery.

Open to students, faculty, alumni and health professionals, the evening will feature remarks from College of Nursing leadership, Zavotsky’s keynote address, an interactive Q&A session and networking opportunities. The event is free, but registration is required by February 2.

Nationally Recognized Nurse Scientist

The College of Nursing’s Dean’s Speaker Series will take place Thursday, February 5, at Seton Hall’s Interprofessional Health Sciences campus in Nutley.

Zavotsky was recently featured in a Becker’s Hospital Review spotlight on nurse scientists for her work at NYU Langone Health, where she supports emergency department nurses and fosters a culture of inquiry and research tied directly to patient care.

Zavotsky’s scholarship was also recognized at the national level when her book, Advancing Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare, earned first place in American Journal of Nursing’s 2025 Book Awards for Nursing Research.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Interim Dean Kristi J. Stinson, Ph.D., RN, APN, PNAP, noted that Zavotsky’s career exemplifies the values at the heart of Seton Hall’s College of Nursing.

“Kathleen Zavotsky’s leadership in nursing research and education reflects the College’s mission to advance knowledge, elevate practice and prepare nurses to lead change,” said Stinson. “Her work demonstrates the powerful role nursing science plays in improving health outcomes, and her perspective will be both timely and inspiring for our students, alumni and colleagues.”
