National Day of Racial Healing
The National Day of Racial Healing was created with and builds on the work and learnings of the Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) community partners. Launched by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, TRHT emerged in 2017 as an approach to racial equity work that connects healing with systemic transformation.
Racial healing, building relationships and transformation is an individual, collective, and societal process of learning and understanding that we have a shared humanity. It is the recognition that we have more in common with each other rather than our differences. Racial healing allows us to bring our biases to the surface, recognize our own shared and lived experiences, and connect with people to reaffirm the humanity in all of us.
Nationally, the day of observance is Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The following link to the National Day of Racial Healing, offers additional opportunities to engage such as:
- Hold a racial healing conversation around your dinner table or in a community space. Download the conversation guide.
- Watch Changing The Narrative, a 14-part digital series on the subject of advancing racial equity through the experience of racial healing, produced by NBCUniversal News Group, and sponsored by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation.
- Host an event that brings people together, cultivates trust, builds relationships, or tells true stories about your community’s or organization’s racial past.
We look forward to seeing you at the 3rd Annual Seton Hall National Day of Racial Healing.
