"The Everlasting Man" Special Issue

"The Chesterton Review" Special Issue: "The Everlasting Man." vol. 51, nos. 3 &4, Fall / Winter 2025

The G.K. Chesterton Institute for Faith and Culture at Seton Hall University announces the publication of volume 51, nos. 3 & 4, Fall / Winter 2025 — of its widely recognized journal The Chesterton Review. A special issue on The Everlasting Man.

About the issue

This year marks the one-hundredth anniversary of The Everlasting Man (1925), the last volume of Chesterton’s great apologetic trilogy that began with Heretics in 1905 and continued brilliantly with Orthodoxy in 1908. A centenary is an occasion for taking stock, for asking how well a book stands up after a long duration of discussion and debate. It is also a reason for celebration, for recognizing the qualities that make a book – any book – a classic. It is, thirdly, an opportunity to take the long view. For all these reasons, a special issue of the Review devoted to The Everlasting Man seems in order. The book deserves the status of classic. If it is still in print, it is because it is still important. If it continues to answer arguments, it is because those arguments (despite Chesterton’s best efforts) have not gone away. It is, in its own way, an everlasting book.

- Editor Dermot Quinn, D.Phil.

The issue contains an Introduction by Dermot Quinn; Articles by Adam Schwartz, Geir Hasnes, Christopher Altieri, Dermot Quinn, Father Thomas Quinn, Sigrid Unset and a reprint of an article by Sylvère Monod. As with all issues of the Review, there is also a good selection of Chesterton’s own writing, along with Book and Film Reviews, as well as many News and Comments items and Letters and Photo Galleries.
