The 2022 Charter Day Program

Elizabeth Ann Seton Statue Profile ViewCharter Day celebrates the founding of Seton Hall in 1856 and the granting of our charter by the New Jersey State legislature in 1861. It is a special annual opportunity to reflect on our history and purpose, our Catholic identity and mission.

This year, the University will celebrate our Charter on Thursday, March 31, in Bethany Hall.

The afternoon's commemoration will include the presentation of the 2022 Bishop Bernard J. McQuaid Medal for Distinguished Service, awarded annually to long-serving employees for distinguished service and commitment to the University's mission. Also included will be the 2022 President's Award for Student Service and recognition of our Servant Leader Scholars.

This year's theme is Harvesting Our Treasures From Within, and as such, our keynote speaker is Monsignor Joseph Reilly, Rector Dean, Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology.
