A message from President Nyre to the Seton Hall Community:
Welcome to the spring semester. I hope you are healthy, rested and ready to take your place as an active member in our community of great minds.
The work of being a great mind is not simple, nor is it meant to be. But as we rededicate ourselves to shared goals, I am confident this semester will prove just as transformative as any in Seton Hall history.
In our academic and personal lives, we continue to experience disruptions caused by the coronavirus. COVID presents a challenge we must manage collectively — in addition to our coursework, employment, service obligations and social activities. At times it can feel overwhelming. In the face of these feelings, remember you are not alone. We rely on each other to thrive, as one University, whatever the obstacles.
Thankfully, the light at the end of the COVID tunnel is drawing nearer. We are counting the weeks until coronavirus cases subside. Seton Hall joins the rest of the nation in praying for this long-awaited outcome. But it will only happen if everyone does their part.
Our community recommits itself to the Seton Hall Pledge as the best weapon against the spread of COVID-19. I am confident all of us will actively practice the Pledge and live by its precepts. If not, we risk losing the academic year we have spent months planning, building and experiencing together.
Despite the pandemic, Seton Hall continues to dream big dreams and advance every day. In the coming days, you will learn about several major initiatives, including our new strategic plan. Announced late last year, Harvest Our Treasures will lead the University in increased distinction and fresh expressions of our timeless mission. Later, we will announce exciting campus projects to ensure our reputation for top-notch living, learning and recreational spaces.
Hazard Zet Forward, Setonians. Let us make history together this spring, being flexible and adaptable as we go. You and our entire community are in my prayers for a safe, healthy and successful semester.
Sincerely,
Joseph E. Nyre, Ph.D.
President
