Fulbright Scholar Bruno Crispo to Deliver Cybersecurity Lecture Series

Seton Hall University is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruno Crispo, Ph.D., as its 2026 Fulbright Scholar, the University's fourth Visiting Faculty and Scholar as part of a partnership with the U.S.-Italy Fulbright Commission, formally launched in 2023 and recently renewed for an additional three-year period.

Bruno Crispo, a cybersecurity researcher at the University of Trento, will work in close collaboration with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and in particular Seton Hall's graduate programs in data science and cybersecurity, delivering a public lecture series drawn from his Fulbright project, “Developing Interdisciplinary Cybersecurity Leaders: Practice Driven and AI Supported Education at Seton Hall University.”

Crispo’s Fulbright project has two complementary goals. First, he will deliver a series of seminars exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping different areas of cybersecurity, examining its applications and benefits as well as the new threats, limitations and risks it introduces. Second, he will contribute to the design of an interdisciplinary graduate curriculum for cybersecurity managers professionals who can combine technical expertise with competencies in management, governance, law, policy and ethics, and who are increasingly sought after by both industry and public institutions. In pursuing these goals, Crispo will draw on his experience with European higher-education initiatives such as the Digital Europe-funded and 28Digital-led SPECTRO and CYCERONE projects, which develop innovative, interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approaches to educating cybersecurity students and upskilling professionals. Seton Hall is also a member of 28Digital, which includes a Dual Degree MBA program with Aalto University in Finland, and Crispo will support additional enrollment-focused international collaborations during his residency.

Manfred Minimair, director of the M.S. in Cybersecurity as well as the M.S. in Data Analytics and Engineering programs, welcomes the collaboration and Crispo's residency this Fall: “As we celebrate our newly launched M.S. in Cybersecurity and invite experts in the field to share their insights with our students, the timing of Crispo's residency as a Fulbright Scholar aligns so well, allowing the Seton Hall community to learn from and collaborate with an eminent global scholar on evolving trends in data security, biometrics, wearable tech and IoT and prevention of hacking."

Lecture Series
Crispo's residency will center on a lecture series open to Seton Hall students, faculty and staff, hosted within an existing graduate executive seminar in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science's data science and cybersecurity programs Special Topics seminar in Cybersecurity or Data Science). Each session will also be open to the broader University community with registration required in advance.

Session 1 titled "What you do is your password: How behavioral biometrics could replace PINs and passwords" will take place on Tuesday, October 6, in Duffy Hall Room 82, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Seton Hall community members who attend at least three of the five sessions will earn a digital badge in AI-driven Cybersecurity Leadership, issued by the Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies.
