Quarantine and Isolation Space Expansion for Resident Students

As stated in the Health Intervention Communication Team (HICT) message on February 4, the University is increasing COVID-19 surveillance testing this week to supplement existing health and safety protocols.

Surveillance testing has been conducted for South Orange campus resident students. Starting February 9, surveillance testing will expand to include non-resident students who have indicated they are returning to campus through the HyFlex modality. All three campuses will be included in the expanded testing.

As a further precaution, we will increase our quarantine and isolation space to include Cabrini Hall to accommodate anticipated additional positive cases and students identified as possible contacts. Current residents of Cabrini Hall will be relocated to Xavier Hall.

Although several public health statistics have improved, the continued spread of the virus, uncertainty regarding new variants, and the pace of the state’s vaccination rollout led us to make this decision and to ensure we are prepared for every possibility.

We recognize the inconvenience this causes to those students. We greatly appreciate their additional flexibility and patience as we all continue to monitor and respond to the ever-changing circumstances caused by COVID-19.

For Cabrini Hall residents:

  • Please complete the Cabrini Relocation Form by February 11 to indicate your relocation date and living preference(s). By February 13, your new housing assignment will be sent to your SHU email. Moving dates will begin February 14 at 3 p.m. through February 17.
  • You will be allowed 24 hours to move to your new assignment and completely vacate your previous Cabrini Hall assignment. Housing and Residence Life will have bins and hand trucks available to assist with your move. Once you have completed your move you can return your Cabrini room keys to the drop box located in the lobby of your new residence hall assignment.
  • If there are any questions regarding your relocation, please email [email protected] or call (973) 761-9076.

The HICT continues to meet weekly, monitoring University and public health statistics and government guidance. Your health and safety remain paramount in Seton Hall’s planning and actions.

Sincerely,
