First Faculty Retreat: Education and Truth

Directed by Dr. Joseph Maloy
October 5, 2016

Dr. Joseph MaloyBecause scientific truth is held in such high regard, it is sometimes forgotten that the truth delivered by any science depends upon the validity of its methodology. By applying to the most recent scientific methodology Lonergan’s understanding of conscious intentionality, we advance an epistemology of science that is consistent with current Church teaching on ethics and religion. We thereby obtain what might be a profound insight into the true meaning of the phrase “Catholic Intellectual Tradition.”

Joseph Maloy is an Associate Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry and Catholic Studies.  His Ph.D. in physical chemistry is from the University of Texas.
