What Great Minds Can Do: Prachi Makkar
"During my time at Seton Hall, I had three internships, starting my freshman year. I owe that to the Career Center, which helped me every step of the way. But I got my favorite internship through one of the corporate mentors I was paired with — a Seton Hall graduate from JPMorgan Chase. My internship as a financial analyst there led to my getting a full-time job when I graduated."
When Prachi Makkar first arrived at Seton Hall, she described herself as shy and a little scared. By the time she graduated, she was confident and secure — and had already landed a job at JPMorgan Chase.
Through the corporate mentorship program, Prachi was paired with three high-level business executives. "My corporate mentors were invaluable in giving me advice, assisting me with internships and helping me network and learn about the business world. They gave me an inside view of my future career and helped me understand what skills I needed to be successful."
As a Seton Hall student, Prachi studied abroad in four separate countries, learning about business practices in Portugal, Greece, Spain and Ireland. She also wrote for the business school's paper, The Stillman Exchange, was a member of the finance and marketing clubs and served as a University peer adviser. "One of the things I love about Seton Hall is how many opportunities there are to learn, to do and to get involved. I think it is what sets Seton Hall apart and makes it so special."
As a commuter student, Prachi was initially concerned about how she might take part in campus life, but "getting involved on campus was easy and it helped me connect and make friends," she says. "I have made lifelong friends here and I feel like Seton Hall is a second home, a family. I will always cherish the experiences, opportunities and people I met at Seton Hall."
