Bachelor of Science (B.S.)


If you're good with numbers, enjoy "following the money" from Wall Street to Main Street, and are interested in the art and science of money management, this concentration may be your perfect fit. Students will be exposed to stock evaluations, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and portfolio analysis.

You will also have the opportunity to  take classes in our Trading Room, attend an annual Capital Markets Colloquium, compete in our Investment Research Challenge or apply skills learned in the classroom on a student-managed fund.

Seton Hall University has been a member of the CFA Institute’s University Recognition Program since 2014, among the earliest universities so recognized. Its undergraduate programs in Finance, Mathematical Finance, and Finance and Technology incorporate at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and place strong emphasis on the CFA Institute’s Ethical and Professional Standards. These state-of-the art programs provide students with the foundation for earning the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, the most highly recognized and globally respected credential in the investment management profession. In being a CFA University Recognition Program, Seton Hall has the privilege of granting over a dozen CFA scholarships annually to support qualified students in their pursuit of the CFA designation.

This program centers on the two core areas of finance: financial strategy and investment analysis. Our courses emphasize:

  • The time value of money 
  • Cash management 
  • Project budgeting 
  • Bond valuation

  • Securities trading analysis

  • BFIN 3211 Financial Strategy 
  • BFIN 4227 Investment Analysis

Select at least three finance electives (9 credits)

You'll learn from dynamic faculty who offer hands-on instruction. Concentration courses will help you answer three fundamental questions:

  • How much should any individual or firm invest? 
  • What assets should the individual or firm invest in? 
  • How should the cash required for the investment be raised?
Trading Room

Center for Securities Trading and Business Analytics

A vast financial resource network, the Center mimics actual trading room activity that occurs in investment banking: up-to-the-second, market-clearing quotes and the latest global market data and news on frequently traded securities, including stocks, bonds, commodities and currencies.
