Innovation Hub Renovation Reaches Key Milestones

Innovation hubSeton Hall University’s creation of the new Innovation Hub, located within the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center on the ground floor of Walsh Library, has reached an exciting midpoint, with major interior work well underway and exterior construction set to begin.

Launched this spring, the project will create a dynamic, technology-rich environment designed to foster collaboration, creativity and experiential learning. The new Innovation Hub is set to serve as a central space for students, faculty and partners to explore emerging technologies, entrepreneurship and innovative teaching and learning.

Since construction began in May, the project team has completed several major milestones within the TLTC’s interior. Following initial demolition and structural modifications earlier in the summer, new walls and framing have taken shape and mechanical, electrical and technology systems are being installed.

Drywall, ceiling work and finish materials, including wood paneling, glass railings and flooring are progressing on schedule. Furniture installation is expected to begin in mid-November, with final inspections anticipated by early December.

“Seeing the Innovation Hub evolve from concept to reality is truly exciting,” said Paul Fisher, Chief Information Officer. “This project represents our vision to integrate technology, creativity and collaboration at the heart of the Seton Hall experience.”

Exterior Work on Deck New Walsh Library Entrance
While interior work moves toward completion, the next phase of the project construction of a new entry vestibule along Seton Drive is set to begin soon. Site preparation and demolition are already underway, with steel framing and concrete work for the new entrance scheduled through the fall. Landscaping, hardscaping and finishing touches are planned for early spring.

This modernized entry will enhance accessibility and provide a striking new gateway to the Innovation Hub, the Teaching, Learning  and Technology Center, Art Gallery, Archives and Collections and access to the upper floors  of the library.

“As we move into the exterior phase, the transformation is becoming more visible to the campus community,” said Mike Wendt, Project Manager, Campus Planning and Facilities Management. “This phase will bring a significant visual change to the library while tying together the new Innovation Hub with the rest of campus.”
