Pregnancy and Parenting Student Support
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are navigating pregnancy or parenting while attending Seton Hall, you do not have to figure everything out on your own.
Seton Hall University offers a variety of resources to support your health, well-being, academic success, and personal needs. Whether you are looking for medical care, counseling, help with your classes, information about parenting or adoption, or simply someone to talk with, there are people at the University who can help.
Dean of Students Office
Not sure where to start? Start here.
The Dean of Students Office can help you understand the resources available to you and connect you with the right University offices.
Health Services
Health Services provides confidential healthcare to students, including pregnancy testing and medical consultation. Health Services staff can discuss your health needs, answer medical questions, and help connect you with appropriate healthcare providers and community resources when additional or specialized care is needed.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
Pregnancy, parenting, relationships, family expectations, and decisions about the future can bring many different emotions and concerns. CAPS provides confidential counseling and support to help students talk through what they are experiencing and make decisions consistent with their individual circumstances, needs, and values.
Students can also access additional counseling support through the University's Uwill teletherapy resources.
Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry provides confidential pastoral support for students who would like to talk with someone about the spiritual, personal, or moral dimensions of pregnancy, parenting, or other life decisions.
Rooted in Seton Hall's Catholic mission and its commitment to the dignity of every person, Campus Ministry staff are available to listen, provide guidance and prayer, and help students identify additional sources of support.
Students of all faith traditions, as well as students who do not identify with a particular faith tradition, are welcome to seek support.
Disability Support Services
Students who have a disability or medical condition that affects their access to University programs or activities may contact Disability Support Services to discuss whether disability-related accommodations are appropriate.
DSS can explain the accommodation process, required documentation, and available support.
Academic Support and Pregnancy-Related Needs
Students who are pregnant or parenting may sometimes need assistance navigating academic responsibilities, absences, medical appointments, or other pregnancy-related needs.
Resources such as your Academic Advisor and the Academic Resource Center are available to help.
Title IX and Pregnancy
Title IX prohibits discrimination based on pregnancy and related conditions in educational programs and activities. Students may be entitled to reasonable modifications related to pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, and related medical conditions.
The University's Title IX Office can provide information about these protections and assist students who have questions or concerns about pregnancy-related discrimination or access to their education.
Lactation Space
Students who are nursing or lactating have access to a private lactation space at each of our campuses.
