Hired in 2001, Dr. Viswanathan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computing and Decision Sciences, where he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in various topics in information systems/ technology and their application to business. He has been active in developing and delivering new courses. Notable among these have been: Enterprisewide Accounting Information Systems II, which he teaches predominantly to accounting students, Business Modeling for Decision Support (a graduate course in the application of System Dynamics to business), and Enterprise Systems Simulation (a graduate course that teaches concepts of enterprise integration through an SAP based business game). He is an avid user of technology to increase student engagement and pioneered within the Stillman School the use of Camtasia to record his lectures and make them available to students. Dr. Viswanathan's current research interest is Enterprise Systems. His research is predominantly learning and pedagogical in nature. He has published research papers in management information systems, software development technologies and in the application of information technology in pedagogy. He has presented papers at the Hawaii International Conference on Systems Sciences and The Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems. Dr. Viswanathan's papers have appeared in IEEE Software, Operations Research, International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education, Information Systems Management and Journal of Computer Information Systems.
