Seton Hall University Physician Assistant Program

Thank you very much for your interest in lecturing for the Seton Hall University Physician Assistant Program! We are always looking for experienced and dedicated lecturers that are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and experience with our students.

GMPA 7312 Fundamentals of Clinical Medicine:
The Fundamentals of Clinical Medicine (FCM) course is an eight (8) credit course that is required for our second year PA students. FCM explores more deeply some of the basic concepts which were introduced in the first year of the curriculum. Students in the FCM course have completed basic science coursework in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology and neuroscience. They have also had a year of training in history taking and physical examination

The course is primarily composed of a series of lectures provided by primary care practitioners and specialists. Topics include a broad range of health conditions that occur across the lifespan, with a specific focus on primary care medicine. These topics are developed using the PANCE blueprint content, which outlines the topics PA students must master in order to pass our certification examination

For the conditions you will be presenting, please cover:

  • Hstorical and physical examination findings
  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies
  • The differential diagnosis
  • Pharmacologic management
  • Non-pharmacologic interventions
  • Appropriate preventive measures

FCM runs from August to December of each year. At the completion of this course, the students will start their clinical rotations.

Location: Interprofessional Health Sciences Campus (IHSC), Building 123
340 Kingsland Street, Nutley, NJ 07110
