New Student Welcome Weekend Schedule

New Student Welcome Weekend is a mandatory in-person event series for all incoming first-year and transfer students. Welcome Weekend 2022 will take place August 25-28 with new student move-in taking place on August 23-24 – for more information about Housing and Residence Life, please email shuhousing@shu.edu.

Reminders for new students:

  • For those students living on campus, Housing and Residence Life will send specific information in August about the move-in day schedule.
  • Students will be pre-assigned to small groups based on their University Life course section and Peer Advisor assignment.
  • Welcome Weekend is intended for students only, there will be no formal programs for family members.

Tuesday, August 23 and Wednesday, August 24

ALL DAY - First-Year and Transfer Student Move-In
Our incoming students move in today! Wear Seton Hall Blue and move into your residence hall (Aquinas or Boland Halls). Students should check their email for instructions on move-in times and other important information.

8:45 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. - Center for Academic Success Office Hours
The academic advisors in the Center for Academic Success will be available during normal business hours for any scheduling or advising needs.

5 p.m. - Move-In Mass with Blessing for Families
Join us for Mass in our beautiful University Chapel. We invite all incoming students and their families to join us for worship, followed by a special blessing upon the new and returning students & families.


Thursday, August 25

10 a.m. – 12p.m.Welcome Weekend Kick-Off 
Richard and Sheila Regan Field House
The formal start to the Welcome Weekend festivities including an invocation.

2 p.m. – 5 p.m. College Specific Sessions (times vary)

4 p.m. Seton Hall University Women's Soccer vs NJIT
South Orange, N.J., Owen T. Carroll Field (Soccer)

4 p.m. Cornhole Tournament
Look for us on the University Green
Bring your A-game and compete to win! Join the rest of the first-year students at Seton Hall for a competitive cornhole tournament.

5–7 p.m. - Dinner
Dining Hall
Resident students should use their ID card to eat in the Dining Hall.

This traveling theater made up of college students, uses interactive, informative skits to educate audiences on issues of interpersonal violence, specifically on sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and bullying.

12 Steps to Appreciating Diversity

Meet Mohammed Bilal – musician, poet, and writer. You may recognize him from MTV's Real World III: San Francisco. Join Mohammed as he shares his insights and passion for how we can all better learn to appreciate diversity.

The student leaders of the fraternity & sorority community are hosting an outdoor glow party to welcome you to SHU. Be sure to stop by for fun, music, games, and more.


Sunday, August 28

2 p.m. - New Student Convocation

Convocation is designed as an opportunity to reflect on the significance of your educational endeavor and the commitment of the University to support you in the pursuit of your goals. This is your first formal academic ceremony at the University.

 3 p.m. - Blue Day Carnival
University GreenThe annual Blue Day Carnival is a time to bring students together for fun with new friends on the Green. Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with games, inflatables, activities, live music, and of course classic boardwalk treats!

7:30 p.m. - Celebration of Sunday Mass
Jubilee Hall
Join us in Jubilee Hall Auditorium this first weekend on campus for the celebration of Mass. Come give thanks to God for His goodness and ask for His blessing this new academic year. Be sure to stop by our "Gelato on the Piazza" outside the Chapel" dessert bar afterwards to say hello!
