The Core and Catholic Studies welcome Martha Hennessy, granddaughter of Dorothy Day, as she will come to talk to us about the legacy of her grandmother, "Servant of God and Modern Day Prophet."
In the Core, an Islamic text by Ibn Tufayl called "Hayy Ibn Yaqzan" tells a story dealing with faith, reason and nature, and linked importantly to other Core authors, such as Thomas Aquinas and Plato.
On October 9 at 4 p.m., the Core will host our first Scholars' Forum in the CIT on Microsoft Teams, regarding a book co-edited by Francis Hunter and Nancy Enright with contributions from three Seton
Inside the Core our Core I Coordinator, Elizabeth Redwine, and our Core II Coordinator, Todd Stockdale, offer a wide and interesting array of wonderful faculty development sessions.
We will hold a hybrid panel discussion on "Immigration: the Moral and Theological Experiences at the Southern Border," moderated by Jon Heaps, with panelists, Susan Reynolds and Abbey Murphy.
Core I begins with a conversation of perspectives from a variety of texts, including Plato's Allegory of the Cave. Several of these texts can be said to link with the idea of exiting the cave.
Celebrate the life and legacy of Dorothy Day, Servant of God. Her granddaughter, Martha Hennessy, will share personal memories of Day’s journey and discuss her experience with The Catholic Worker.

On April 4, we Celebrate a second vigil-on-the-green in honor of St. Oscar Romero and Martin Luther King, Jr., with talks by Myriam Wilkens, Ph.D., and Reverend Forrest Pritchett.
