The Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute Presents a Lecture by Dr. Marjorie Agosín "Always Living in Spanish: A Journey"

The Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute and their co-sponsors will be hosting a lecture presented by author-poet Dr. Marjorie Agosín. This lecture will include an introduction by Ms. Gloria Garafulich-Grabois, Assistant Director of the G.K. Chesterton Institute for Faith & Culture on Friday, September 22nd at noon in Stafford Hall, Rm 110. The event will also be providing a free Chilean-themed lunch.

Lecture Preview:
Dr. Agosín will be presenting a lecture on her personal, cultural journey as she moved
and adapted to new countries while retaining a strong sense of identity. She will
be discussing themes of intersectionality and belonging through the lens of language.
Biographical Facts on our Distinguished Guest:
Dr. Marjorie Agosín received her Bachelor of Arts from University of Georgia and both
her Masters and Doctoral Degree from Indiana University. Author-poet, Dr. Marjorie
Agosín, was born in Berkeley, California. Her family emigrated to Chile and subsequently,
Agosín spent her childhood growing up in a German community. Dr. Agosín has been the
recipient of many literary and humanitarian awards, including one by the United Nations
honoring her work with human rights and Gabriela Mistral Medal of Honor for Life Achievement
in 2000 by the Chilean government. Agosín has edited and published over eighty books
and currently teaches Spanish language and Latin American literature at Wellesley
College.
