Testing Plan and Protocol - Seton Hall University

Improvements in statewide COVID-19 data have enabled Governor Murphy to relax some of the restrictions for indoor dining and gatherings. You can stay apprised of the latest State of New Jersey developments by visiting https://covid19.nj.gov/index.html

It has been a month since the South Orange campus' Move-In week. We have completed three weeks of classes. As the cooler months of autumn drive us indoors more often, it is additionally important that we follow the personal hygiene practices that will keep us healthy and safe: wearing our masks, washing hands frequently, practicing appropriate social distancing, and using the Campus Clear app daily.

Testing Plan and Protocol

As part of its comprehensive testing plan and protocol, Health Services tests various students every week, including those who have continued to move into residence housing beyond the initial move-in, which included 38 last week. We also test student athletes as part of the BIG EAST guidelines, students participating in health care clinical settings, student teachers in classroom settings who require testing, as well as all students with concerns that they are symptomatic and who ask for a level of reassurance when not feeling well.

Health Services conducted 104 tests last week with no positive cases. Over 1,900 tests have been conducted since the start of the fall 2020 semester.

Any positive cases are promptly reported to the South Orange Village health officials. We also report all testing and positive cases on the Health Intervention and Communication web site .

Ongoing testing is just one component of a comprehensive plan to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 on campus that includes extended access to care providers. Telemedicine is now available for our students as well. Health clinics are providing free flu shots to students and employees this fall. The availability of these resources and adherence to the Seton Hall Pledge will further aid our efforts to maintain the health and safety of our campus community.
