Spring Study Abroad Announcement
Effective immediately, all University spring study abroad trips are cancelled due to the spread of the coronavirus in a growing number of countries around the world, including China, Italy, Greece and India, as well as the potential threat of the virus spreading within the United States. The latest updates from the Centers for Diseases and Prevention have led us to take this action.
This cancellation decision does not apply to any Seton Hall study abroad travel that has already departed, although we encourage those on the trip to strongly consider returning home as soon as feasible. In addition, this action does not apply to any non-Seton Hall study abroad programs. Individuals taking part in these programs are responsible for making their own decisions regarding their travel and are urged to keep current on the spread of the virus and the latest travel advisories by visiting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list/.
We are taking this action because the health and safety of our students, faculty, employees and their families are of paramount importance. We are asking our faculty trip leaders to contact the travel providers to see what refunds are possible. For credit bearing courses, we are asking faculty members to design alternative course requirements.
During Spring Break, the campus community should also stay apprised of the extent of the virus and the most current travel advisories at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/list/. The latest updates to the campus community also can be found at our Health Services website, https://www.shu.edu/health-services/index.cfm
The Provost’s Office will provide further information when Spring Break is over.
