COVID Operational Levels

The Seton Hall University Health Intervention and Communication Team monitors multiple data points on daily points on a daily basis to assess the risk level of the coronavirus to each campus. These data points examine both internal and external factors. Based upon analysis of these factors, an Alert Level is determined for each campus location.

   Low Level Alert

Underlying threat of COVID-19 remains, but virus prevalence is low on campus.

What to Expect:
Seton Hall (campus location) is open. All Community Members and Visitors must comply with the Seton Hall Pledge, specifically masks must be worn at all times and physical distancing of 6’ must be maintained. Non-instructional gatherings are limited to 25 people or 25% capacity of the space, whichever is less. Visitors are permitted on campus.


   Medium Level Alert

Indicators show increasing rate of virus transmission.

What to Expect:
Seton Hall (campus location) is open. Strong enforcement of Seton Hall Pledge is in place. Enhanced cleaning and disinfection of specific areas. Visitors are permitted, but restrictions be applied. Non-instructional gatherings may be reduced in capacity. Additional mitigation strategies as indicated. The University will consider limiting areas where individuals congregate (Recreation Center, University Center, lounges).


   High Level Alert

Prevalence of virus has increased and indicators show increasing rate of virus transmission.

What to Expect:
Seton Hall (campus location) is open but with additional mitigation strategies. Visitors are not permitted on campus. The University will consider suspending non-instructional gatherings, shuttle service, and restricting dining services to take-out only. The University will consider close areas where individuals congregate (Recreation Center, University Center, lounges). The University will consider pivot to complete remote instruction, closure of residence halls, restrict access to essential personnel.


   Very High Level Alert

Spike in virus, hospital capacity strained.

What to Expect:
Full remote instruction. Residence halls closed. Campus closed except for essential personnel.
