Seton Hall University’s Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies offers exciting pre-college summer programs designed to introduce high school students to foundational business concepts, entrepreneurship and industry driven decision making. These programs provide early exposure to college level learning while helping students explore how business principles influence organizations, markets and career pathways.

This summer’s business offerings include Accounting for the Future: Unleashing Your Potential, Investing 101: Managing a Live Portfolio, Sports Media and Business Academy and the Summer Entrepreneurship Institute. Together, these programs allow students to explore business from multiple perspectives, including finance, investment strategy, innovation, marketing and media, while building practical skills in an engaging academic environment.

Accounting for the Future: Unleashing Your Potential
1.5-Days
July 23-24

Accounting for the Future introduces high school students to the fundamentals of business and finance while exploring how organizations make smart financial decisions. Designed for students interested in business, finance and organizational leadership, the program highlights how accounting functions in real‑world corporate environments and supports strategic thinking.

This accessible, non‑credit course is designed for students with little to no prior accounting experience. Through discussion and applied learning, participants explore how money flows through organizations, gain exposure to financial planning concepts and examine how accounting data is used to drive success. Students are also introduced to the role of emerging tools, including artificial intelligence, in financial analysis and fraud detection.

The program is taught by Danielle DiMeglio, instructor of Accounting and Taxation and director of Graduate Accounting Programs. By combining foundational knowledge with practical application, students build financial literacy and confidence while exploring potential pathways in accounting, finance and the corporate world.

Investing 101: Managing a Live Financial Portfolio

July 13-17

Investing 101 offers high school students a comprehensive introduction to investing that extends beyond a simple focus on stocks. Designed for aspiring investors and students curious about financial markets, the program equips participants with essential tools for understanding investing principles and making informed decisions.

Throughout the program, students explore core concepts including market fundamentals, assets, bonds, risk, volatility and portfolio management. Participants learn how to observe real‑time market changes, evaluate risk and return and develop thoughtful investment strategies grounded in financial literacy.

A distinctive feature of Investing 101 is the opportunity to work directly with a live investment portfolio. Students track assets, make investment decisions and monitor market activity in real time, gaining hands on experience that reinforces theoretical learning. The program is taught by Mark Schild, associate dean for Student Success and instructor of Finance and emphasizes responsible decision making and strategic thinking that supports future studies in finance, business and related fields.

Sports Media and Business Academy
1 Week: Full-Day
July 20-24

Seton Hall University’s Sports Media and Business Academy gives high school students an inside look at the fast paced and evolving world of sports through a business lens. Designed for students interested in sports, media and marketing, the program explores how organizations operate behind the scenes and engage audiences across today’s digital landscape.

Through an immersive and hands on learning experience, students are introduced to key concepts such as sports marketing, media production, branding and revenue generation. Collaborative discussions and applied projects allow participants to examine how media and business intersect in sports while gaining insight into content creation, audience engagement and strategic decision making.

The academy is led by B.J. Schecter, executive director of the Center for Sports Media, whose career spans more than three decades in the industry, bringing professional insight and rigor to the classroom experience. Ideal for students passionate about sports and curious about the business driving the industry, the academy provides a strong foundation for exploring future studies and careers in sports management, media, marketing and analytics.

Summer Entrepreneurship Institute
1 Week: Full-Day
July 20-24

Seton Hall University’s Summer Entrepreneurship Institute is a five day immersive program designed for high school students interested in starting and growing a business. The program introduces students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, small business development and product creation in a collaborative and hands-on setting.

A core feature of the institute is its workshop based structure, where students work through the process of developing a business idea from concept to execution. Participants create product prototypes, refine business strategies and gain experience pitching their ideas to professionals, building confidence in communication, leadership and problem solving.

The program is taught by Benjamin Pincus, Associate Dean for Assessment and External Engagement in the Stillman School of Business. Designed for motivated students curious about innovation and leadership, the Summer Entrepreneurship Institute offers valuable exposure to entrepreneurial thinking and practical skills that support success in college and future business ventures.
