Seton Hall Hosts 'Digital Earth Day' to Commemorate 50th Anniversary
Thursday, April 16th, 2020
Every day is Earth Day. Every moment is a moment to say "Thank you Mother Earth for your beauty and abundance." April 22nd marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, a day to reflect on how we have been caring for our common home, our beautiful planet Earth, and what we can do locally, to show our gratitude for the web of life that supports us every moment of every day.
This week, the campus Digital Earth Day will be highlighted with students posting photos on Instagram of their favorite moments in nature or their favorite fun facts about nature. Whether they're hugging a tree, showing off a favorite indoor plant, gardening in the backyard or holding a flower, the photos will be tagged with @setonhall, #SetonHall, #DigitalEarthDay, #WeLoveTrees and will be part of an Instagram challenge to tag three friends to participate. The tree hugging photos will be emailed to the South Orange Environmental Commission, to showcase the Tree Identification and Inventory Project, that Environmental Studies students have been leading for several semesters.
Progress this Spring can be found on the Tree Inventory Project student blog.
Please email tree hugging photos to Barbara Bour (South Orange Green Team) at [email protected]. She will post them on the South Orange Facebook page and Instagram @SOgreenteam. Please also tag your posts with @setonhall. We look forward to seeing your submissions!
