What Great Minds Can Do: Tiffany Knighten
"I wouldn't have had half the opportunities I had if I didn't come to Seton Hall. The University has so many resources and so many people willing to help you network and make the connections to get ahead."
Tiffany Knighten's road to success began the moment she arrived at Seton Hall. By the time she finished her junior year, Tiffany completed three internships with several award-winning public relations agencies in New York. "I knew from the get-go I wanted a school that challenged me academically and took my career goals seriously. At Seton Hall, you gain the confidence to turn your dreams into reality."
Fast-forward a year later, and the savvy senior changed her future when she tapped into Seton Hall's alumni network to land an internship at Viacom, Inc. "Seton Hall's career center does a great job with setting up students with alumni mentors. I was paired with the vice-president of marketing at Viacom. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that helped me focus on my career goals."
Tiffany knows firsthand how one thing can lead to another at Seton Hall. She explained the University is well respected for their internship program. "Seton Hall takes your success personally and internships play an important part of your college experience. I worked at 5W Public Relations, a top communications firm in New York. As an intern, I wrote press releases and managed social media channels. After that, I got another internship at Burson-Marsteller. I'll remember that forever because of the connections I made."
Her story doesn't end here. Tiffany excelled in the classroom, teaming up with her professors on market research projects. "One of my assignments was to create a campaign for a non-profit organization. This was incredibly rewarding because I utilized what I learned in class and I helped implement a successful public relations strategy."
Tiffany also said her professors were mentors and partners in her education. "The faculty are very supportive. They're active in their field, and they keep the learning process upbeat and engaging."
On campus, Tiffany quickly found activities she was passionate about. She joined the Public Relations Student Society of America and eventually, she was elected chapter president. And yes, Tiffany also joined a sorority, where she planned a community blood drive and a reading program for children.
Career-launching experiences are some of Tiffany's biggest memories of Seton Hall. "I wouldn't have had half the opportunities I had if I didn't come to Seton Hall. The University has so many resources and so many people willing to help you network and make the connections to get ahead."
