Learn Canvas Teaching Essentials in a One-Day, Hands-on Bootcamp

Attendees at a University workshop.Join the TLTC for an intensive one-day bootcamp designed to equip you with the essential tools for effective teaching in the Canvas environment. In this comprehensive training, you'll engage in hands-on sessions that cover everything you need to get started in Canvas.

The in-person bootcamp will be offered in the Walsh Library Beck Rooms from 9 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. on:

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. 

Bootcamp Schedule:

Content and Communication
9 – 10:30 a.m. 

Organize your course flow by structuring course content and leverage the Modules tool to create engaging and dynamic content. Learn how to incorporate the calendar, announcements, and chat features into your course. 


Assignments and Grading 
10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. 

Delve into all the options and use cases for the Assignment tool and learn how to use the Gradebook and Speed Grader. In this session, you will learn how to give student feedback through Speed Grader and grade assignments using rubrics.


Quizzes (Tests) 
1 – 2:30 p.m. 

Learn how to create a quiz (test), utilize the question types and pools/item banks, and manage the quiz settings. 


Collaboration, Discussions and Groups 
2:45 – 4:15 pm 

Discover Groups and how they provide a space for communication and collaboration for small groups.

Prior to attending the bootcamp, participants are encouraged to watch the Canvas tutorial for instructors. This video will provide a brief overview of Canvas and its features.
