Seton Hall University uses CrowdStrike to provide enterprise-grade Endpoint Protection (EDR) and threat protection on all managed devices. CrowdStrike runs continuously in the background to detect and prevent malware, ransomware, and other security threats using real-time behavioral analysis.  Modern protection includes behavioral detection, ransomware protection, and exploit prevention.  Updates are managed centrally by the Department of Information Technology, so no user action is required.   

For personally owned or unmanaged devices, it is important to use a trusted antivirus solution and ensure it updates daily. Endpoint Protection (EDR) programs detect known threats by comparing files on your device to a database of malware signatures. When a match is found, the threat is typically deleted or quarantined, allowing you to review it manually. 

To stay protected:

• Keep your Endpoint Protection (EDR) software up to date
• Enable automatic updates
• Avoid downloading unknown or suspicious files

• Disconnect from the network
• Contact the Service Desk immediately.
