Virtual Training to Address Human Trafficking Awareness

People walking at an airport.Members of the Seton Hall community are invited to participate in a virtual training to address human trafficking awareness on Wednesday, November 4, through New Jersey Shield’s Hometown Security Initiative.

The training will provide an opportunity to learn more about human trafficking, recognize potential indicators of exploitation and better understand how to respond to concerns. Human trafficking can involve the exploitation of individuals for commercial sex or forced labor and awareness can play an important role in identifying potential situations and connecting people with appropriate resources.

“Building awareness helps us better understand the challenges facing our communities and how we can respond when something doesn’t seem right,” said Barry Eck, assistant director of emergency management at Seton Hall University. “This training offers an opportunity to learn more about human trafficking, recognize potential warning signs and understand how to report concerns appropriately.”

The seminar is presented by the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness in collaboration with New Jersey Shield and the Department of Public Safety at Seton Hall University.
