The Division of Student Services and the Office of Campus Inclusion & Community is pleased to announce a generous grant of $12,000 from the PSEG Foundation in support of scholarships for RISE Gen 1 students for the 2023-2024 academic year. This is the second consecutive year that the PSEG Foundation has provided grant support for scholarships for first generation students at Seton Hall University.
The RISE Gen 1 program at Seton Hall University supports first-generation, Pell eligible students in their pursuit of a college education and their development as servant leaders in a global society. Starting with its recruitment and enrollment process and continuing through graduation, the RISE Gen 1 program provides a supportive and nurturing environment, robust support services, and professional development opportunities for students so that they feel a strong sense of belonging and can reach their fullest potential at Seton Hall University. Scholarship support such as the PSEG Foundation grant helps to alleviate the many financial challenges for RISE Gen 1 students while helping to ensure an equitable educational experience.
Dean Majid Whitney is thankful for the PSEG Foundation’s vision and support of RISE Gen 1 students, stating that "The support of the PSEG Foundation changes the scope of our students’ undergraduate careers, allows for a full college experience, and most importantly aids in our collective efforts to break cycles of poverty that have plagued so many communities…and for that I am thankful. We want our students to embody the RISE pillars of Resilience, Integrity, Scholarship, and Excellence, and support such as the grant from the PSEG Foundation helps to ensure that our students will have the opportunity to do so at Seton Hall and beyond."
Seton Hall University greatly appreciates the opportunity to collaborate with the PSEG Foundation. The PSEG Foundation scholarships recognize the achievements of our RISE Gen 1 students and make a lasting impact to support their academic goals.
