Kevin Moran, Ph.D.

Adjunct Lecturer
Department of Sociology Anthropology Social Work and Criminal Justice

I have a background in sociology, but the main focus of my scholarly interests are in criminology. I am mostly interested in using findings from scientific fields (i.e., more than simply either sociology or criminology) to modify theoretical frameworks in criminology/sociology. I also closely follow scholarship and current events related to the US Criminal Justice system. I worked a volunteer in a maximum security prison for three years.

I have taught sociology and criminology since 2010 and strongly believe in taking students seriously in terms of the intellectual content they encounter in my courses. I also really like refining courses after each semester so that they are clear, look good, are easy-to-follow, feel like they are producing learning, and use media in ways that mirror the quality of media students consume in their own personal digital lives (for example, copying production and editing values from high quality YouTube channels).

I hope to see you in my course!
