Father Tomasz Mazurek was born and raised in Bialystok (Poland) and is the third of
four children of Ewa and Zbigniew Mazurek. After graduating from High School, he entered
the Seminary in Bialystok (Poland). He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of
Bialystok on June 11, 2011, and served as parochial vicar at Divine Mercy's Parish
in Czarna Bialostocka (Poland). In 2014 he was sent by Archbishop of Bialystok for
graduate study. In 2014-15 Father Mazurek attended Greek and Hebrew Propaedeutic Courses
at The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (Poland). He, then, moved to Rome
(Italy) where he pursued biblical studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute. In
2018 Father Mazurek completed an S.S.L. at the Pontifical Biblical Institute. His
licentiate thesis was titled "The Formula 'Come and See' in Targums and in the Gospel
of John." He then pursued an S.S.D. from Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, where
he wrote his doctoral dissertation titled: "The Women at the Well of Water. The Secondary
Feminine Figures in the Aramaic Translations of the Hebrew Bible." On May 11, 2023
Father Mazurek defended his dissertation with summa cum laude. In January 2023, Father Mazurek was appointed Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Church in Jersey City, a position in which he currently serves. He directs the Bible
Study in his parish and continue to work in a field of biblical studies, writing the
articles and attending the biblical conferences in the United States. The areas of his academic specialty and expertise are primarily: Hebrew Language,
Biblical Aramaic, Targumic Studies, Ancient Near Eastern Studies, The Old Testament
Studies, and the Sacred Scripture in general.
