Hired in June 2003, Dr. Mark P. Holtzman, CPA (inactive), is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Accounting and Taxation. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in financial accounting and advanced accounting. His teaching methods focus on developing innovative curriculum and using interactive multimedia learning technologies. Dr. Holtzman’s research interests center on earnings management, voluntary disclosure, implementation of new accounting standards and teaching innovation. His research, which includes contributions to practice and the scholarship of teaching, has appeared in the Journal of Accountancy, CPA Journal, Research in Accounting Regulation, and other practice and academic-oriented journals. Dr. Holtzman’s sole-authored book, Managerial Accounting for Dummies, has sold over 10,000 copies. He is also the co-author of Management and Cost Accounting for Dummies and Interpreting and Analyzing Financial Statements: A Project-Based Approach. Dr. Holtzman co-advises the School’s Beta Alpha Psi chapter.
