Dr. Dellert's enduring professional interest is in parenting and the health of children, although as a nurse she has cared for both adults and children. She has been a bedside nurse, a nursing administrator, a nursing instructor, a pediatric nurse practitioner, and a researcher. She has also been a nurse in hospitals large and very small, and a pediatric nurse practitioner in pediatric offices and free clinics and college health services, and a consultant on nursing to hospitals in northern New Jersey. Helping parents and children prevent illness and injury is her greatest satisfaction in nursing. Her current research interests are concerned with children's physical activity and with nurses' sense of dignity.
