Career Planning
There has never been a better time to seek employment as a licensed physical therapist. In addition to the exciting and changing opportunities to help patients across the nation, U.S. News and World Report recently ranked physical therapy as the No. 6 "best job" in the country. And, physical therapists report one of the highest job-satisfaction levels, according to a National Opinion Research Center survey - more than 75% of physical therapists polled say they are "very satisfied" with their occupation.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for physical therapists is expected to grow by more than 36% from 2012 to 2022, as more individuals with disabilities or limited functioning require therapy services. As the population continues to age and focus shifts toward healthy living, licensed physical therapists are well positioned to support the healthcare needs of our society.

Getting Hired
Upon completing the Seton Hall D.P.T. program, our graduates are well positioned and thoroughly prepared to begin physical therapy practice. Of our students who passed the NPTE, 100% of them reported employment within one year after graduation. In fact, many had several employment offers prior to graduation. The Seton Hall network is also a strong advantage: our clinical partners know that our D.P.T. graduates will be among the best prepared of any entry-level practitioners.
Professional Associations:
Professional Certification/Licensing Information
Licensing requirements for physical therapists differ by the state where the license is issued. Licensing information for all the states is available on the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) website.
Seton Hall supports our students through the process of licensing and certification, and has designed a course about the process as part of the physical therapy curriculum in the third year of study.
