Impact Talk to Explore Generative AI in Higher Education

In collaboration with the Center for Faculty Development and the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center, the Office of the Provost is proud to offer another installment of its Impact Talks speaker series "Generative AI and Higher Education" at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023 in Bethany Hall, Room A.
Jason Gulya, Ph.D., professor at Berkeley College and the chair of the Artificial Intelligence Council, will discuss the rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on higher education. Registration is now open and recommended.

Known for his work teaching onsite, online and hybrid courses on writing and humanities, Gulya has trained hundreds of faculty members, students, and administrators on how to use AI to become more innovative and inclusive in their work and lives. Currently, his focus is on incorporating artificial intelligence in the classroom. He was recently featured by Business Insider for his unique approach to prompting ChatGPT and in 2020, he was awarded as Berkeley's Faculty of the Year.
Following Gulya’s presentation, a panel of Seton Hall students and faculty will share their experiences and perspectives on generative AI, how it has impacted their interactions in the classroom, potential applications and disruptions, and preparing for an AI-infused future.

Since 2021, the Office of the Provost has welcomed speakers from a variety of backgrounds as part of the Impact Talks speaker series, which focuses on understanding the human impact of specific trends, disciplines or industries within communities and societies.
