Friday, February 5, 2016
2016 marked the 6th year of Seton Hall University’s highly successful CHAMP (Communication Honors Alumni Mentor Program) program, which has connected close to 100 students with successful alumni working at leading organizations. This year’s “kickoff” dinner program brought together 25 mentors and 25 students — students who will learn about becoming a professional and the opportunities that lie ahead.
Created through collaboration among The Career Center, the College of Communication & the Arts, the Alumni Communication Advisory Board,
and the SHU Department of Public Relations and Marketing, the program
has mentors from various areas of the communication industry. They are
from organizations including AIG, iHeartMedia, Novartis, The Peoples
Improv Theater, Becton Dickinson, Stern Strategy Group, Vistage
Worldwide, Seton Hall University, Johnson & Johnson, MSLGROUP, DiGa,
Univision Communication, Inc., OpenEyeGlobal, NBC TV, IPI Sports Group,
Turner Broadcasting, Coyne PR, Pfizer, Bloomberg Television, Digital
Trends, TV Land, and the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce.
“Deciding what you want to do with your life can be stressful, but
having someone who's walked in your shoes helping you along the way,
relieves a great deal of stress and uncertainty." Mawuena Sedodo, senior
“The 2016 roster of CHAMP participants is the largest ever and is further proof that the new School of Communications & the Arts is growing in both size and stature. Congratulations to the 2016 CHAMP participants and a heartfelt thanks to our alumni mentors for helping fellow pirates complement their education through advice and expertise.” Paul Ward, Digital Trends, mentor and program coordinator
“CHAMP has been such a rewarding experience for me. Being able to use my personal knowledge and professional expertise to help a future fellow SHU alum has been very fulfilling! Students and mentors, alike, learn something from this fabulous program!” Laurel Weir, Viacom Media Networks, mentor
