"I strive to be the kind of leader where my leadership is best exemplified in my actions. My goal is to be someone whose leadership makes a positive impact in the lives of others."
Rebecca Amrick has always described herself as a quiet leader. She emphasizes her actions and how they affected others. She's always believed that it was the smallest actions that made the biggest difference. Her leadership style focuses on service and support rather than speaking up and directing others. Rebecca preferred to act behind the scenes and act as a hands-on leader who works with her team to accomplish goals. Growing up in the small town of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Rebecca always sought ways to help her surrounding community in small but impactful ways. In high school, she participated in service-based clubs and was an active member of her community. Rebecca also organized donation drives to provide items and monetary donations to local organizations.
When the time came to choose a college, Seton Hall held Rebecca's interest from her first visit. The sense of community that was present on its campus drew her towards the school.
After learning about Seton Hall's emphasis on servant leadership, the university seemed perfect for her and catered to her unique leadership style. She joined the Buccino Leadership Institute to learn how to become a better leader—a leader focused on serving others. The skills the Institute teaches and the opportunities it provides are incredibly advantageous. She believes her experiences at the Institute will help her develop various leadership skills, particularly those which will allow her to become a more outspoken leader.
During her time at Seton Hall, Rebecca involved herself in different clubs which included her various interests. She was happy to discover Seton Hall's Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE), the school's service organization. Through this club, Rebecca has been able to interact with the community outside of Seton Hall and make a difference in the lives of those around her. Her favorite service activity that DOVE offers is ESL tutoring which has allowed her to explore her interest in teaching. This service has been a great experience for Rebecca; it has allowed her to practice her teaching skills, gain experience, and interact with the English Learner community both within and outside Seton Hall.
