History Department Faculty

The Department of History enjoys a well-deserved reputation as one of the most research active academic units on this campus, and this recognition is largely due to the high academic visibility of its faculty. Our department members are not only internationally recognized experts in their respective fields but also popular teachers and prominent public intellectuals. Seton Hall history professors publish scholarly books and articles, newspaper op-eds and popular essays, and expert interviews. They collaborate on documentary film projects, they are often solicited to give TV and radio interviews, and some of them even write fiction. The research interests of the faculty cover a broad range of historical topics and geographical areas, including the Middle Ages, the Enlightenment, the history of the United States, European intellectual history, the histories of Africa, Latin America, Japan, and the Middle East. Our colleagues offer courses in Global history – on such popular topics as World War I & II, Cold War, and Totalitarianism.
